The Tonic helmet offers protection, style and comfort for riders who are just getting into cycling. The inconspicuous design of the helmet makes sure it is at home wherever you take it. An in-mold construction is used to keep the weight down while 28 vents make sure you are always cool and comfortable while riding. A dial at the back of the helmet controls a basket that secures a large part of the back of the head. A quick turn of the TS+ dial assures a snug yet comfortable fit that keeps the helmet firmly in place. Adjust it on the fly and start your cycling adventures.
The MIPS system adds an additional safety aspect to the Tonic helmet. A low friction layer is introduced into the helmet to absorb rotational forces in case of a crash. This does not take away anything from the original protective capabilities of the helmet, it just adds to them.
MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a revolutionary technology, providing protection with respect to angled impacts.
MIPS is a patented protection system and comes from years of studying the human brain. The brain is surrounded by cerebrospinal fluid that protects it by allowing it to slide when exposed to an angled impact. Mimicking the cerebrospinal fluid, MIPS creates a sliding layer between the helmet and the head. This reduces the rotational force otherwise transmitted to the brain. The combination of the brainís own protection and MIPS provides better protection from angled impacts. MIPS can be utilized in any helmet and does not interfere or take away from any other technical features, safety aspects, comfort or design.
MIPS was developed by some of the worldís leading researchers in biomechanics and neuroscience at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. The result is helmets offering enhanced safety and protection from rotational forces to the brain
Conventional helmet testing is done by dropping them vertically onto a flat surface. MIPS is designed for reality, reflecting how most accidents occur, with angled impacts to the head. By using the low friction layer, MIPS can absorb more of the energy from an angled blow to the head.
Lazer and MIPS have been partners since 2013 and colaborated on the first ever inmolded helmet that featured the technology, the Lazer P'Nut MIPS helmet. Since then the MIPS system has been available throughout the Lazer range.
Look for the yellow MIPS logo on the helmets to ensure that you are wearing a helmet with MIPS technology!
The adjustable head basket allows the back part of the rollsys system (that grips the back of the head) to move up and down depending on the riders preference. This way the Rollsys system can be adjusted even more to individual rider needs and can create even more comfort.
The TS+ system is the baby brother of the ATS system. It provides the same functionality and comfort but in a dressed down package. The system combines the comfortable cradle of the Rollsys system with the ease of use from the ATS.
The dial at the back controls a basket that grips a large part of the back of the head. A quick turn of the dial makes sure the basket creates a snug, yet comfortable fit that keeps the helmet where it should be.
